WordSmith Publication Services came into being in 1995 and is based in the United Kingdom in North Cumbria. WordSmith was established to provide a professional document publication service to businesses and industry.
Working for companies in the manufacturing and defence industries, WordSmith has successfully completed publications projects for UK MoD, Army Equipment Support Publications; Alstom T&D on HV maintenance procedures and recording systems and Siemens UK Plc. T & D Ltd. on HV substation control equipment for the National Grid Electric Transmission Co.; Rolls Royce Industrial Power Group (Cochran Boilers Ltd.) on steam raising plant for Bass Breweries, BNFL and Didcot B power station; produced technical manuals and illustrated parts catalogues for automotive and communications and other equipment for customers that supply equipment to the UK MoD.
WordSmith Director, Stuart Smith, is a Fellow of the Institute of Scientific and Technical Communicators (ISTC), Member of the Society for Technical Communication (STC), the Independent Authors Special Interest Group (IASIG) of the ISTC, the Institute of Electrical and electronic Engineers (IEEE) Professional Communication Society (PCS), and has links with other Technical Communicators as part of the Independent Quality Authors group that provides a large skills base and a wide range of document linked services.
